BelgradeECUMENISM, ECUMENICAL MOVEMENTAND THE SERBIAN ORTHODOX CHURCHAbstract

The Role of the Orthodox Church in modern Ecumenical Movement is to "witness the World" about the Teaching of Traditional Church, "inherited from the Apostles and Lord Jesus Christ". That fact is of great importance having in mind that Traditional Church had been "united and Catholic" in the first eight Centuries. The Serbian Orthodox Church Relation towards ecumenism and Ecumenical Movement has been based both on the crucial principles of orthodox Christology and Ecclesiology, and on its particular experience from "ecumenical life".

Key words: Orthodox Church, Ecumenism, Ecumenical Movement, Serbian Orthodox Church, World Council of...

BelgradeINFLUENCE OF EARLY CHRISTIANITY ON ISLAMAbstract

In developing the topic of the paper we started from the transparent picture of real life in Arabia through presentation of the most important religious and sociocultural elements. Historic circumstances but also the strategic trade interest between the two world empires – Bisantine and Persia brought the two empires into conflict. Bisantine empire was the protector of the Hasanides which professed monophisity, and Persia protected the Lahmids which protected the interests of Nestorianism and Judaism. All of these religious teachings, dominantly of the Syrian – Palestinian type, influenced Islamic moneteism during the following period, which outlined main stream Arabian Christian civilization...

SarajevoRELIGIOUS DEVELOPMENT AND VALUES IN MIDDLE-ADULTHOODAbstract

James Fowler defined a religious development of each individual through six hierarchical stages. His theory originates from framework of North American protestant culture. The present research investigates applicability of Fowler's religious development model in multicultural European society tested on the sample of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina (male and female) of different religions aged between 40 and 60. Furthermore this research also investigates whether the religion and religious development correlate with certain values. Two instruments were used in determining the stage of religious development as well as the scale of values. Results of the analysis...

In the last several decades, many theorists have contributed research to the issues of coping with crisis and conversion, but have failed to find a common denominator for the two. Both coping and conversion are independent concepts and should not be confused. At the same time they are related phenomena. In this article, the author primarily underscore that structurally both coping and conversion are process of change, where a system of meaning is perceived as no longer the most adequate frame of reference for the life of individual. The aim of this article is to evaluate theoretical approaches to coping with crises and conversion and to emphasize necessity of interdisciplinary...

Novi SadCOLLECTIVE SHIFT OF MINDResume

Very few articles has been written about collective shift of mind - collective metanoia in our country. Doubtless, it is necessary that this term should be further defined and systematized. In one transitional society such as Serbia, it is necessary that one besides social and political shift, encounters change on psychological and spiritual level. This requires formation of new collective identity firmly rooted in traditional christian values and its moral and ethical principles. In this context, religious aspect of collective metanoia represents process in which smaller or greater group or society, changes old system of beleives for new one, confronts with own guilts and mistakes and makes radical turn...

PančevoRELIGIOUS OPPINION AND CONFIGURATION OF ECOLOGICAL ETHICS AND CONSCIENCEAbstract

Global interest of modern society is to promote (improve) cognition processes and develop ecological ethics and conscience procedures. According to the religious conception, holiness has been opposed to the profanity, whereas the previous is superior to the latter, which has been a human survival requirement during the long period of time. Because of the latest technical innovations and theories from various scientific fields, we have been placed in front of the moral and spiritual dilemma: the use of scientific innovations for the military purposes, confusion and doubtfulness originated from the analysis results acquired within some scientific experiments-researches ; those are...

Novi SadTHE POWER OF IDENTIFICATIONSummary

This paper is my response to the invitation of prof. Dr Milan Vukomanovic to contribute to a book dedicated to our professor Djuro Susnjic. My approach is not a critical retrospective view, judgement or evaluation. I am not in a sufficiently senior position to provide an overview of his work or to speak authoritatively about the major achievements of our professor. My approach for this paper is to condense my experience of twenty years of discipleship. From my first meeting, which was at the end of the eighties, until today, the professor has always shared his knowledge. This is the secret of a good professor – to give unselfishly and tireless, to talk with an aesthetics form of language that has...

SANU, BeogradIS IT POSSIBLE TO LOVE WITHOUT SACRIFICE?Summary:

The author in this text talks about sacrifice in religious practice and indicates that in the past thousand years the permanent practice of 'sacrificing' has been as an offering to, first heavenly, then earthly gods. Today the notion of self sacrifice, or offering as a act of abandonment for others and for the benefit of others is more the norm. The most Divine, glorious and highest kind of self-sacrifice is found in Christianity, because Jesus Christ become God's sacrifice for man's salvation. Faith in Christ who was crucified and arose again from the dead, gave to Christians the possibility to behave intrinsically differently towards God, other people and themselves despite thousand of years of old...
