Early Protestantism in a Serbia.
Summary
Although Reformation came to Serbia only 20 years after the emergence of this movement in Germany, there is relatively a small number of articles covering the period from XIV to XVII century in this region. Since hussites came to Srem and Macva in XIV century where they were persecuted by the Inquisition, and up to the Vojvodina settlement of Protestants coming from Germany, Czech and Slovakia under the Joseph II, there are (almost forgotten) sources speaking of the activities of hussites, hutterites, sabbatharians and others. Presented in a chronological order, these facts may help the readership to better understand possible influences in society. Also, this article partially covers contacts of some Serbian noblemen with Reformed movements in Transylvania, in Southern Hungaria. Article is a review of the early Protestantism in a nowadays Serbia.
